Turmakhad Rural Municipality is located at Achham district of Sudur Pashim Province, Nepal. It was established in 2073 BS., by combining then Rahaf, Bhairavsthan, Turmakhad, Nada, Raniban, Toshi and Dhamali Village Development Committees. It is situated at 55 kilometer east of Mangalsen, the headquarter of Achham district. This Rural Municipality is surrounded by Dailekh district at west, Dhakari Rural Municipality at west, Kamal Bazar Municipality at north and Surkhet district at south. Name of this Rural Municipality was given after Turmakhad bazaar which was popular for tobacco (Tamakhu).

Turmakhad Rural Municipality has been divided into eight wards. Population of this Rural Municipality is 24,782 as per the census 2011 that includes 4,577 households. Chhetri are dominating ethnic groups covering 46.83% of total population followed by Brahmin and Kaami 14% each and Thakuri 7%, there are more than 12 ethnic group residence in this Rural Municipality. It covers the total area of 232.07 kilometer square. Majority of population is based on survival agriculture and animal husbandry.

Chairperson Mr. Pusparaj Sharma and Vice-chairperson Ms. Amrita Budha are elected representatives of this Rural Municipality. Center of this local unit is Turmakhad village. Number of local level representatives elected in last local election is 42.
