The geographical area of Tumwewa Rural Municipality is 117.34 sq km. It has a population of 13419 according to census 2011. This rural municipality has five wards. It was formed by merging four former VDCs. It is surrounded by bordering with rives in all the directions with neighboring villages. The headquarter of this municipality is situated in Mauwa.

In terms of population it has it is the smallest gaunpalika in Panchthar district. The major agricultural production of this area is maize, millet, paddy, verities of grams. And cash crops like peanut, cotton, black cardamom, amliso, chiraito and argeli are highly produced in this region. Livestock farming in small scale is also very common like in every household here.

The Chairperson and Vice chairperson this rural municipality are Hom nath Thapa and Dhan Prashad Sawa respectively.
