The Rural municipality has total area of 98.40square kilo meter and is divided into 11wards. Dhunibesi municpalitylies in the east of Thakre rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Galchhi rural municipalityin the west,Makawanpurdistrictin the north and Nuwakot districtin the south. The geography of this Rural municipality includes naturally decorated high hills mountains, and cold weather. Thakre rural municipality has the total population of 32914 consisting male population 16053and female population of 16861as of Census of Nepal 2011. There are 6927households in Thakre rural municipality.
Brahaman, Chhetri, Gurung, Shrestha, Tamang, Lama, Nepali, Kaami, Damai, Magar etc. resides in this rural municipality and they celebrate the festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Nauratha, Ramnawami, Teej, Buddha Purnima, Tamu Losar, Losar, Christmas Day etc. Paddy, Wheat, Corn, Ginger etc are planted in this rural municipality.
