Tanjakot rural municipality is situated in the southern part of the Humla district. VDCs such as Maila and Madana, were combined in Tanjakot rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 159.09 square kilo meter and is divided into 5 wards. Mugu district lies in the east of Tanjakot rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Bajhang district in the west, Adanchuli rural municipality in the north and Bajura district in the south.
