Sunchhahari rural municipality is situated in the eastern part of the Rolpa district. Adjoining VDCs such as Jelwang, jaam, Siuri, Jaimakasala, Seram and Phagam, were combined in Sunchhahari rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 277.62 square kilometers and is divided into 7 wards. Baglung district lies in the east of Sunchhahari rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Subarnawarti rural municipality and rolpa municipality in the west, Rukum and Baglung district in the north and Lungri and Subarnawarti rural municipality in the south. The geography of this rural municipality is composed of steep slopes and high mountain. Sunchhahari rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 16034 consisting male population 7434 and female population of 8600 according to National Population Census of Nepal 2011. There are 3016 households in Sunchhahari rural municipality.
The name of this rural municipality is based on the famous waterfall Sunachhahari. The central of this rural municipality lies in Powang. Brahmin, Chhetri, Magar, Dasnami, Gurung, Dalit. Mostly Magar & Chhetri people reside in this Lungri rural municipality. Dashain, Tihar, Janaipurnima, Chandi Purnima, Buddhajayanti, Maghesarankti, Christmas festivals in a friendly manner. Nepali & Magar language is most spoken languages of this rural municipality. Panchebaja, Sorathi, Kaura, Sarangi Naach, Mayur Naach, Jhyaure, Balan, Chudkaetc are the cultural programs of this rural municipality. Paddy, Wheat, Corn, Mustard, Grain and various cash crops also harvest in this rural municipality. And people of this rural municipality also engaged in livestock business also and some are in abroad for foreign employment also.
Mr. Aash Bahadur Punmagar and Mrs. Pabitra Gharti Magar are the chairman and vice chairman of the Sunchhahari rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Pobang, Rolpa.
