Sunapati Rural Municipality situates west-south part of the Ramechhap district. Sunapati Rural Municipality was formed by combining than Dimipokhari, Gunsi (1-7), Bethan, Hiledevi, and Khaniyapani VDCs. The Rural municipality has total area of 86.98 square kilo meter and is divided into 5 wards. Khandadevi rural municipality lies in eastern boarder of Sunapati rural municipality, Chauri River lies in western part of this rural municipality, Sunkoshi river cover southern border of Sunapati rural municipality and Doramba rural municipality comes in northern border of Sunapatirural municipality. The geography of this Rural municipality includes steep hills and cold weather. The total population of the municipality is 18,128 consisting male population 8,348 and female population of 9,780 as of Census of Nepal 2011. There are 4,050 households in Sunapati rural municipality. The name ‘Sunapati’ is named after the beautiful Sunapati flower found in the higher side of this rural municipality.
Sunapati rural municipality is the place of indigenous group, mostly Tamang, Sunuwar, Bramin, Chhetri, Newar. This rural municipality is historical and touristic place with very religious and natural attraction. The place is made of with some rocky and steep mountain.
The rural municipality promoting cash crops tea and cardamom as the major economic activities. The major occupation of the people residing in Sunapati rural municipality is agriculture and livestock. Herbal, and forest-based occupation are the major source of income of this municipality. Further the rural municipality is promoting tourism sector too. All the ward of rural municipality are connected with road transport.
Mr. Dhaba Lama and Mrs. Gita Bista Chaulagain are the Chairman and the Vice chairman of the Sunapati rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated at Sunapati-03, Hiledevi, Ramechhap.
