Simkot rural municipality is situated in the mid part of the Humla district. VDCs such as  Thehe, Bargaun, Simkot, dadaphaya and Syaada, were combined in Simkot rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 785.88 square kilo meter and is divided into 8 wards. Kharpunath rural municipality lies in the east of Simkot rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Namkha rural municipality in the west, Namkha rural municipality in the north and Kharpunath rural municipality in the south. The geography of this rural municipality is steep and high mountain with cold weather. Simkot rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 11557 consisting male population 5968 and female population of 5589 as of Census of Nepal 2011. There are 5566 households in Simkot rural municipality.

This rural municipality lies in the north-west part of Humla District. Lama, Rawat, Rokaya, Bahun, Chhetri, Dalit, Janajatietc tribe people resides in this rural municipality ad celebrates Dashain, Tihar, Magheshakranti, Ramnawami, Baishakepurnima, Janaipurnima, Teej, Holi, Loshar etc. festivals in a friendly manner. Mother tongue is Nepali language. All the residential of this rural municipality are independent in agriculture and also engaged in livestock farming too. The atmosphere & climate of this rural municipality is healthy & good.

Mr. Padam Bahadur Lama and Mr. Bali Rawat are the chairman and vice chairman of the Simkot rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Simkot, Humla.
