Sarkegad rural municipality is situated in the eastern part of the Humla district. VDCs such as  Jaira, Sarkedeu, Saya, Barai, Rodikot and Gothi, were combined in Sarkegad rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 306.69 square kilo meter and is divided into 8 wards. Mugu district and Chankheli rural municipality lies in the east of Sarkegad rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Bajhang district in the west, Kharpunath rural municipality in the north and Adanchuli rural municipality in the south. The geography of this rural municipality is steep and high mountain with cold weather. Sarkegad rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 9868 consisting male population 4977 and female population of 4891 as of Census of Nepal 2011. There are 1794 households in Sarkegad rural municipality.

Rokaya, Dhami, Bahun, Chhetri, Dalit, Janajatietc tribe people resides in this rural municipality ad celebrates Dashain, Tihar, Magheshakranti, Ramnawami, Baishakepurnima, Janaipurnima, Teej, Holi, Loshar etc. festivals in a friendly manner. Mother tongue is Nepali language. All the residential of this rural municipality are independent in agriculture and also engaged in livestock farming too. The atmosphere & climate of this rural municipality is healthy & good.

Mr. Krishna Rokaya and Mr. Joshi Dhami are the chairman and vice chairman of the Sarkegad rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Sarkegad, Humla.
