Sammarimai rural municipality is located in the southern part of the Rupandehi district. VDCs such as Karota, Thumha, Piparahawa, Pharena, Asuraina, Rohinihawa and Betakuiya, were combined in Sammarimai rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 50.78 square kilometers and is divided into 7 wards. Marchawari rural municipality lies in the east of Sammarimai rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Lumbini Saskritik municipality in the west, Kotahimai rural municipality in the north and Nepal-India boarder in the south. The geography of this rural municipality includes plan fertile land. Sammarimai rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 38305 consisting male population 19535 and female population of 18770 according to the National Population Census of Nepal 2011. The major castes residing in this rural municipality are Shukla, Yadav, Paasi, Loniya, Lodha, Kurmi, Barai, Jaisawal, Kalawar, Harijan, Gupta, Muslimsn etc. This rural municipality is one of the under developed rural municipality lies in Rupandehi District. Here, in this rural municipality all the seasonal corps can harvest & grow well. The major corps grows are Paddy, Wheat, Corn, , Mustard, Sunflower, Peanuts, Potato etc. In these days people also engaged in harvesting many cash crops like vegetables, mushroom, livestock, etc. Similarly, Dashain, Tihar, Chhatha, Ramnawami, Shivaratri, Maghi, Rakshyabandhan, Ramajan, Eid etc are the most celebrated festivals in this rural municipality.
