The geographical area of Sakela Rural Municipality is 79.99 sq km. It has a population of 11594 according to census 2011. This rural municipality has five wards. It was formed by merging four former VDCs. The headquarter is in Mattim Birta. It is surrounded by Bhojpur district in the east and Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi in the west and north and Diprung gaunpalika in the south.

Among all ethnic groups Rai community is high in number. Agriculture is the main livelihood option of people living here. Likewise is every other part of the country people here are also in foreign employment, local business and daily wage labour.

The Chairperson and Vice chairperson this rural municipality are Arjun Kumar Khadka and Sarita Khadka respectively.
