Sailung Rural Municipality situates southern part of the Dolakha district.Sailung Rural Municipality was formed by combining then Tamchetdudhpokhari, Bhusapheda, Magapauwa, Katakuti, Phasku, Sailungeshowr VDCs. The Rural municipality has total area of 128.67 square kilo meter and is divided into 8 wards.
Melung rural municipality lies in the east of Sailung Rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Sindhupalchok district in the west, Bhimeshowr municipality in the north and Ramechhap district in the south. The geography of this Rural municipality includes naturally decorated high hills mountains, and cold weather. Sailung rural municipality has the total population of 19,698 consisting male population 8,786 and female population of 10,912 as of Census of Nepal 2011.
