Rupa Rural Municipality is situated at south-east part of Kaski district, Gandaki province. This Rural Municipality was established in 2073 B.S. It combines then VDCs- Thumki, Siddha, Deurali, Hansapur and Rupakot. This Rural Municipality is surrounded by Lamjung district from east, Pokhara Lekhanath Metropolitan city from from west, Manang district and Madi Rural Municipality from north and Tanahu district from south. This is named after Rupa lake which is one of the popular lakes of Nepal. This local unit is smallest local level unit of Kaski district. This local unit is divided into 7 wards.

Population of Rupa Rural Municipality is 14,519 covering 3,780 households as per the census 2011. Population of female is 8230 and male is 6,289. Ward number six is most populated ward. It covers 94.81 kilometer square area. Most of the land is covered by forest, followed by grass area, farming area. Literacy rate is 75.1%. There are about ten ethnic groups residing under this local unit. Major ethnic groups are Brahmin, Kami, Gurung, Chhetri and Magar. Gurung are largest ethnic groups constituting 14.6% of population. Tourism and farming are major occupations of people residing here. Nepali is largest language spoken followed by Gurung. Pokhara-Mungling road goes through this area. Farming, tourism and trade are major occupations of people residing here. Paddy, wheat, maize and barley are crops cultivated from years. Professional bee, coffee and orange farming has been also started.
