Purbichauki Rural Municipality is situated at mid-east part of Doti district, Sudur Paschim province. This Rural Municipality was established in 2073 B.S. by combining then Khirsain, Gairagaaun, Kadamandou, Pokhari and Ganjari Village Development Committees. This is surrounded by Achham district at east and south, Dipayal Silgadhi at west and Khaptad National Park at north. It is divided into seven wards. There are number of sayings regarding naming of this local unit.

Total polulation of Purbichauki Rural Municipality is 22,489 with 4,837 households. Population of female is 12,779 and male is 9,710. Average number of family member is 4.65. Ward number seven is most populated ward. About 17 ethnic communities reside here, among them Chhetri are dominating population with 69.25% occupancy followed by Kami and Damai. Almost all people speak Doteli language. It occupies total area of 117.66 kilometer square, which is covered by mountains, forest and agriculture purpose land. Major occupation of people in this Rural Municipality is agriculture as 60% people are involved in farming. Tourism is another probable sector as Khaptad National Park is at boarder and different natural beauties lies here. Foreign employment and service are other occupations. Literacy rate is 63.13%. Literacy rate is 51.2%.

Mr. Dirgha Raj Bogati is Chairperson and Ms. Nirmala Devi Saaud is Vice-chairperson of Purbichauki Rural Municipality. Total number of local representatives is 37. Center of this Rural Municipality is at ward number 4, Sanagaaun. Total number of employees working under this local level is 19.
