Namkha rural municipality is situated in the western part of the Humla district. VDCs such as  Hepka, Khagalgaun, Muchu and Limi, were combined in Namkha rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 2419.63 square kilo meter and is divided into 6 wards. Simikot rural municipality lies in the east of Namkha rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Nepal-China boarder in the west, Nepal-China boarder in the north and Bajura district and Bajhang district in the south. The geography of this rural municipality is steep and high mountain with cold weather. Namkha rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 3900 consisting male population 1886 and female population of 2014 as of Census of Nepal 2011. There are 835 households in Namkha rural municipality.

This rural municipality is situated in the far north-western part of Humla District. This rural municipality is connected with Republic of China, Tibbat.  This is also a largest rural municipality considering area. Only Tamang (Lama) tribe people reside in this rural municipality and worship Lord Buddha. Uwa, Phapar, Kodho, Aalu, Chino, Kaguno, Makai, Apple, Okhar, Chuli, Khamu etc. are the edible items that produced in this rural municipality. The jungle of this rural municipality is fully covered by Dhupi, Sallo, Bhojpatra etc. Yarsagumba, Mushroom, Uttis, Katus, Jatamasietc also.

Mr. Bishnu Bahadur Tamang (Lama) and Mr. Pema Tamang are the chairman and vice chairman of the Namkha rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Yalwang, Humla.
