Myagde Rural Municipality is situated at mid-part of Tanahu district, Gandaki province. This Rural Municipality was established in 2073 B.S., by combining then Chhang, Jamune and Manpang Village Development Committees. This is named after the Myagde River flowing through this area. This local level unit is surrounded by Vyas Municipality from east, Vimad and Shuklagandaki Municipalities from west, Shuklagandaki and Vyas Municipalities from north and Vimad Municipality and Rising Rural Municipality from south. it has been divided into seven wards.
As per the census 2011, total population of Myagde Rural Municipality is 22,502 with 5,628 households. Population of male is 9,886 and female is 12,616. Average size of family is 4 members per family. Ward number one is most populated ward. This local unit is the residence of about 23 ethnic groups, among them Magar is largest ethnic group constituting 31.89% followed by Kami and Newar. Total number of mother tongues spoken is ten, among them 67% people speak Nepali which is largest population followed by Magar and Newar. Total literacy rate is 68.5%. It covers 115 kilometer square area. Much of the land is occupied by forest and farming area. Agriculture is the major occupation of people residing here followed by foreign employment, service and trade. Paddy, wheat and maize are major crops cultivated along with different vegetables and fruits.
Ms. Maya Devi Rana Ale is Chairperson and Mr. Bal Krishna Ghimire is Vice-chairperson of Myagde Rural Municipality. Center of this local unit is at Chhang village. Total number of local representatives elected is 37.
