The geographical area of Mikwakhola Rural Municipality is 442.96 sq km. It has a population of 9160 according to census 2011. This rural municipality has seven wards. It was formed by merging four former VDCs.
The name of the rural municipality is derived from the river that flows through this area. Despite being a remote location gaunpalika, its economic activities are no less like other well accessed location. Commercial production of black cardamom, mountaineering, trekking and collection of Himalayan herbs are the major economic activities happens here.
The Chairperson and Vice chairperson this rural municipality are Ramkumar Sawa and Rudrakumari Limbu Sawa respectively.
