Marchawari rural municipality is located in the southern part of the Rupandehi district. VDCs such as Rayapur, bagoli, Shilotiya and Semara marchawar, were combined in Marchawari rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 48.54 square kilometers and is divided into 7 wards. Nepal-India boarder lies in the east of Marchawari rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Sammarimai rural municipality in the west, Kotahimai rural municipality in the north and Nepal-India boarder in the south. The geography of this rural municipality includes plan fertile land. Marchawari rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 38776 consisting male population 20039 and female population of 18737 according to the National Population Census of Nepal 2011. There are 5263 households in Marchawari rural municipality.
This rural municipality is situated in the southern part of the Rupandehi District. The name of this rural municipality is based upon the Goddess Marchawari lies in then Bogadi VDC. This rural municipality is one of the under developed rural municipality of Rupandehi District. Majority of people belong to the madheshi community in this rural municipality. Festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Janaipurnima, Teej, Chhatha, Holi, Buddhajayanti, Moharam, Christmas, Eid etc are celebrated in this rural municipality. Most of the people engaged in agricultural works and some are in private/government job etc.
