Mansebung Rural Municipality is one of the most beautiful gaunpalika of Ilam district under Province No. 1. This gaunpalika was formed by merging Gajurmukhi, Evang and Balo the then VDCs. It has an area of 142.41 square kilometres (54.98 sq mi) and the total population of the municipality is 18503 as of census 2011. This is a very popular resident of Kirats.

Deumai Municipality and Mai Municipality is linked with this gaunpalika towards the east while Chulachuli Gaunpalika lies in west and south. Similarly, this gaunpalika shares its northern border with Fakfokthum Rural Municipality and Panchthar district.

Ginger is the main cash crop of this gaunpalika which is rich for broader plots of agricultural lands. The gaunpalika with Gajurmukhi Dham and Mansebung Temple attracts huge number of religious tourists.

Of the total population of Ilam district, this gaunpalika hosts 6.4 percent and the average density is 130 square kilometer. Limbu ethnic group has majority (43 percent) in this rural municipality followed by Rai (36 percent). Due to the hermitage of Kirat Guru Atmananda and other temples, this gaunpalika got its religious name consider it to be the site of Gods. Mansebung is a Limbu word which means land where God manifests.
The rural municipality is divided into total 6 wards and the headquarters of this newly formed rural municipality is situated in Ibhang.

Dikendra Edhingo is the Chairman of this gaunpalika and Sunita Yonghang is the Vice-Chairperson.

  1. Rong Rural Municipality

Rong is a rural municipality out of six rural municipalities of Ilam district. There are a total of 10 municipalities in Ilam including, four urban and the six rural.

Rong has an area of 155.06 square kilometers and the total population of the municipality is 19,135 as of Census of Nepal 2011. Jirmale, Erautar, Kolbang and Shantipur, previously were all separate DVCs and were merged to form this new local level body.

The rural municipality is divided into total 6 wards and the headquarters of this gaunpalikais situated in Kolbang.

This gaunpalika shares its border with neighboring India in the east. Similarly, Suryodaya Municipality lies in west and north while Jhapa district is adjoined to this gaunpalika in south.

This gaunpalika is very popular for its religious, tourism and agricultural significance.

Shamsher Rai and Chandra Kala Rai are Chairman and Vice-Chairperson of this gaunpalika respectively.
