The Rural municipality has total area of 186square kilo meter and is divided into 8wards. Rosi rural municipality and Sindhuli districtlies in the east of Mahabharat rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Khanikhola rural municipalityin the west,Rosi rural municipalityin the north and Sindhuli districtin the south. The geography of this Rural municipality includes steeply hills mountains, and cold weather. Mahabharat rural municipality has the total population of 8283 consisting male population 8941and female population of 9342as of Census of Nepal 2011. There are 2910households in Mahabharat rural municipality.

Major ethnic group is Tamang followed by Brahamin, Chhetri, Newar, Dalit and marginalized group Majhi. Hindu and Buddhist are major religion of this rural municipality. People do agriculture, livestock farming, tourism, and herbs collection as the major source of income. Lohasar, Buddha Jayanti, Loahsar, Dashain, Tihar, etc are the major festival of this rural municipality.

Mr. Kanchha lal Jimba and Mrs. Chet Kumari Majhiare the chairman and vice chairman of the Mahabharat rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Debitar, Kavreplanchowk.
