Madi Rural Municipality is situated at east part of Kaski district, Gandaki province. This Rural Municipality was established in 2073 B.S. It combines then VDCs- Bhadaure Kalika, Namarjung, Parche, Sildujare, Thumako Danda, Bhachok, Mijure Danda, Majh Thana, Hansapur and Soumarang. This Rural Municipality is surrounded by Lamjung district from east, Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan city and Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality from west, Manang district from north and Pokhara Lekhanath Metropolitan city and Rupa Rural Municipality from south. This lies in mid-part of Nepal. This local unit is named after Madi river flowing through this area. This local unit is divided into 12 wards. This local unit is largest Rural Municipality of Kaski district.

Population of Madi Rural Municipality is 18,153 covering 4,508 households as per the census 2011. Population of female is 9,912 and male is 8,241. Ward number one is most populated ward. It covers 563 kilometer square area. Most of the land is covered by forest, followed by grass area, farming area and snow covered land. Literacy rate is 67%. There are about nine ethnic groups residing under this local unit. Major ethnic groups are Gurung, Brahmin, Kami, Chhetri and Magar. Gurung are largest ethnic groups constituting 32.8% of population. Tourism and farming are major occupations of people residing here. Nepali is largest language spoken followed by Gurung. 6.15% people are under the line of poverty. This rural municipality has diverse climate so number of crops are cultivated here. Tourism and hudro-electricity are other probable areas.

Mr. Bed Bahadur Gurung is Chairperson of Madi Rural Municipality and Ms. Bishnu Maya Acharya Poudel is Vice-chairperson. Total number of local representatives is 62. Number of employees working under this Rural Municipality is 27.
