Lungri rural municipality is situated in the eastern part of the Rolpa district. Adjoining VDCs such as Pang, Badachaur, shirpa, Harjang and Gumchal, were combined in Lungri rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 135.22 square kilometers and is divided into 7 wards. Pyuthan district lies in the east of Lungri rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Sunilsmriti and sunchhahari rural municipality in the west, Sunchhahari rural municipality in the north and Pyuthan district and Sunilsmriti rural municipality in the south. The geography of this rural municipality is composed of steep slopes and high mountain. Lungri rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 23631 consisting male population 10504 and female population of 13127 according to National Population Census of Nepal 2011. There are 4402 households in Lungri rural municipality.
The name of this rural municipality is based upon the name of famous river named Lungri River. Brahmin, Chhetri, Magar, Dasnami, Gurung, Dalit. Mostly Magar & Chhetri people reside in this Lungri rural municipality. Dashain, Tihar, Janaipurnima, Chandi Purnima, Buddhajayanti, Maghesarankti, Christmas festivals in a friendly manner. Nepali & Magar language is most spoken languages of this rural municipality. Panchebaja, Sorathi, Kaura, Sarangi Naach, Mayur Naach, Jhyaure, Balan, Chudkaetc are the cultural programs of this rural municipality. Paddy, Wheat, Corn, Mustard, Grain and various cash crops also harvest in this rural municipality. And people of this rural municipality also engaged in livestock business also and some are in abroad for foreign employment also.
Mr. Druga Bahadur Khadka and Mrs. Bhimkala Budhathoki Chhetri are the chairman and vice chairman of the Lungri rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in wadachaur, Rolpa.
