Kwholasothar Rural Municipality is situated at north-west part of Lamjung district, Gandaki province. This local level unit was established in 2073 B.S. by combining then Baglung Pani, Maling, Uttar Kanya, Bhujung, Pasgaun, Bhoje and Gilung Village Development Committees. This is surrounded by Beshi Shahar Municipality and Marsyangdi Rural Municipality from east, Kaski district from west, Marsyangdi Rural Municipality and Kaski district from north and Madhya Nepal and Beshi Shahar Municipalities from south. This is divided into nine wards. There are popular home stay villages of Ghale village and Bhujung village under this Rural Municipality.

As per the census 2011, total population of Kwholasothar 10,067 with 2,454 households. Population of male is 4,545 and female is 5,522. Ward number two is most populated ward. This Rural Municipality is among major area of Gurung and Ghale culture in Nepal. Other then this Brahmin, Chhetri and Dalit are also residing here. Gurung and Nepali are major language spoken. Total area covered by this local level is 175.37 kilometer square. Buddhism and Hinduism are major religions. Most of the land is occupied by forest and farming area. Majority of people are involved in farming followed by tourism service. Number of trek routs have been identified.

Mr. Prem Bahadur Ghale is Chairperson and Ms. Kumari Muni Gurung is Vice-chairperson of Kwholasothar Rural Municipality. Total number of elected local representatives is 47. Total number of employees working under Rural Municipality is 24.. Center of this Rural Municipality is at ward number 2 Maling bazar.
