The geographical area of Kummayak Rural Municipality is 129.30 sq km. It has a population of 16118 according to census 2011. This rural municipality has five wards. It was formed by merging four former VDCs. It is surrounded by Phalgunanda gaunpalika in the east and Terhathum district in the west and Tamor and Phidim municipality in the north and Tummewa and Milkajung gaunpalika in the south. The headquarter of this municipality is situated in Yasok.
This rural municipality is full of ancient landmarks of Limbu kings who ruled this place for very long time and it has also age-old shrines of hindu, Kirat and Bon religion. The Kummayak is also derived from Limbu language which means main fort.
The Chairperson and Vice chairperson this rural municipality are Jaya Bahadur Chemjong and Sita Acharya respectively.
