Kumakh rural municipality is located in the northern part of the Salyan district. In 2073 BS, adjoining areas of Swikot, Marmaparikada, Kalagaun, Badagaun and Jimali, were combined in Kumakh rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 177.28 square Kilometers and is divided into 7 wards. Darma rural municipality Baghchaur municipality lies in the east of Kumakh rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Bangad Kupinde municipality in the west, Rukum district and Jajarkot district in the north and Dhorchur rural municipality in the south. The geography of this rural municipality is steep slopes with high mountain and cold weather. Kumakh rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 24972 consisting male population 11928 and female population of 13044 according to the national population census of Nepal 2011. There are 4745 households in Kumakh rural municipality.
Pun, Gharti, Magar, Bista, Bahun, Chhetri, Dalit, Janajatietc reside in this rural municipality and celebrates Dashain, Tihar, Magheshakranti, Ramnawami, Baishakepurnima, Janaipurnima, Teej, Holi, Loshar etc. festivals in a friendly manner. All the residential of this rural municipality are engaged in agriculture & livestock farming too. Mrs. Dimaya Budhamagar (Giri)Mr. Dilliraj Jaisi and are the chairman and vice chairman of the Kumakh rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Ragechaur, Salyan.
