Khanikhola rural municipality
Khanikhola rural municipality situates Southern part of the Kavreplanchowk district. Khanikhola rural municipality was formed by combining then Phalametar, Dandagaun, Salmechakal, Salladhara, and Milche VDCs. The Rural municipality has total area of 132square kilo meter and is divided into 7wards. Mahabharat rural municipalitylies in the east of Khanikhola rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Bethanchowk rural municipality and Lalitpur districtin the west, Bethanchowk rural municipality and Rosi rural municipalityin the north and Makawanpur districtin the south. The geography of this Rural municipality includes steeply hills mountains, and cold weather. Khanikhola rural municipality has the total population of 14398consisting male population 7064and female population of 7334as of Census of Nepal 2011. There are 2372households in Khanikhola rural municipality.
The name Khanikhola is named after the name of surrounding river Khanikhola. Major ethnic group is Tamang followed by Brahamin, Chhetri, Newar, Dalit and marginalized group Majhi. Hindu and Buddhist are major religion of this rural municipality. People do agriculture, livestock farming, tourism, and herbs collection as the major source of income. Lohasar, Buddha Jayanti, Loahsar, Dashain, Tihar, etc are the major festival of this rural municipality.
Mr. Krishna Bahadur Khulal and Mrs. Rukmeni Gurungare the chairman and vice chairman of the Khanikhola rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Salmechakal, Kavreplanchowk.
