Kaudena Rural Municipality is situated at mid-south part of Sarlahi district, Province number two. This Rural Municipality was established in 2074 B.S. by combining then Kaudena, Motipur, Sakraul, Phulparasi and Laxmipur Shukhchaina Village Development Committees. This local level unit is surrounded by Malangawa Municipality from east, Gaudeta Municipality from west, Chakraghatta Rural Municipality from north, Bishnu Rural Municipality and Indian border from south. This local unit is divided into seven wards.

As per the Household survey 2075, total population of this Rural Municipality is 26,085. Population of female is 12,698 and male is 13,387. Ward number one is most populated ward. It covers total area of 25.33 kilometer square. Most of the land is occupied by farming area followed by garden, forest and rivers. Though it lacks irrigation facility to most of the farming area, agriculture is major occupation of people followed by labor and foreign employment. Maithali is major language and Hindu is major religion. This area is connected by road and most of the people have access to electricity. Paddy and wheat are major crops along with different vegetables and fruits.

Mr. Ram Prasad Raya Yadav is Chairperson and Ms. Sunita Chaudhary is Vice-chairperson of this Rural Municipality. Kaudena bazaar is center of this local unit. Total number of employees working under this local unit is 13.
