Kaike rural municipality is located in the east-south part of the Dolpa district. Existing VDCs such as Shahartara and Lawan, were combined in Kaike rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 466.6 square kilo meters and is divided into 7 wards. Chharka Tangsong rural municipality lies in the east of Kaike rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Thuli Bheri municipality in the west, Dolpu Buddha rural municipality in the north and Rukum east district in the south. Kaike rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 3576 consisting male population 1657 and female population of 1919 according to the population census  of Nepal 2011. There are 780 households in Kaike rural municipality.

Thakuri, Magar, Lama, Tamang, Bharaman, Chhetri, Thakuri, Dalit, Giri, Ban, Khatri, Dholi, Oad, Batalu, Chadara etc reside in this rural municipality and celebrates festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Magheshakranti, Ramnawami, Baishakepurnima, Janaipurnima, Teej, Holi, Loshar, Christmas day etc. festivals in a friendly manner. Most of the household individuals are engaged in agriculture as well as livestock & mushroom farming. The main crops are Paddy, Wheat, Corn, Mas, Rahar, Aalas, Mustard, and Potato etc.

Mr. Angad Kumar Rana and Mrs. Kunjang Budha are the chairman and vice chairman of the Kaike rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Shahartara, Dolpa.
