Isma rural municipality is located in the western part of the Gulmi district. VDCs such as Hastichaur, Darlaamchaur, Ismaarjasthal, Doholi and Amarpur, were combined in Isma rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 81.87 square kilometers and is divided into 6 wards. Musikot and Resunga municipality lies in the east of Isma rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Dhorkot and Malika rural municipality in the west, Musikot municipality in the north and Dhorkot rural municipality in the south. The geography of this rural municipality is steep slopes with high mountain. Isma rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 20964 consisting male population 8908 and female population of 12056 according to the population census of Nepal 2011. There are 4716 households in Isma rural municipality.
Magar, Brahaman, Kaami, Chhetri, Kumal, Sarki, Damai, Newar, Gharti, etc reside in this rural municipality. The main source of income of this rural municipality is agriculture, livestock, private/government job & foreign employment. In these days people also engaged in harvesting many cash crops like vegetables, mushroom, livestock, etc. Festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Magheshakranti, Ramnawami, Chaitedashain, Baishakha Purnima, Teej, Janaipurnimaetc are celebrated in this rural municipality.
Mr. Laxman Bahadur Bista and Mrs. Bimala Khatri are the chairman and vice chairman of the Isma rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Isma Rajsthal, Gulmi.
