Gurans rural municipality is situated in the southern part of the Dailekh district. VDCs such as Khadkabada, Baraha, Seri, Goganpani, Piladi, and Lalikanda, were combined in Gurans rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 164.78 square kilometers and is divided into 8 wards. Surkhet district lies in the east of Gurans rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Achham district in the west, Dungeshowr rural municipality and Dullu municipality in the north and Surkhet district in the south. Gurans rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 22033 consisting male population 10675 and female population of 11358 according to Census of Nepal 2011. There are 4096 households in Gurans rural municipality.

This rural municipality is one of the famous tourist areaccording to the population  Dailekh District, lies 25 KM from Karnali province capital city Surkhet.  Guruns rural municipality lies at the height of 544 Km from sea level. Brahmin, Chhetri, Dalit, Janajati etc are major caste and ethnic groups residing in this rural municipality and celebrates Dashain, Tihar, Magheshakranti, Ramnawami, Baishakepurnima, Janaipurnima, Teej, Holi, Loshar etc. festivals in a friendly manner. Majority of people of this rural municipality are engaged in agriculture & livestock farming too. The atmosphere & climate of this rural municipality is healthy & good.

Mr. Khemraj Oli and Mr. Dipa B.C are the chairman and vice chairman of the Gurans rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Ranimatta, Dailekh.
