Golanjor Rural Municipality is formed dated 2073/11/27 by Government of Nepal. The said Rural Municipality is surrounded by Phikka Rural Municipality & Ramechhap District in east, and Kamalamai Municipality & Sunkoshi Rural Municipality in west. Similarly, Ramechhap District in north and Kamalamai Municipality & Teenpatan Rural Municipality in south. Golanjor Rural Municipality is lies southern part of Sunkoshi river. Golanjor Rural Municipality was formed by combining seven then VDCs, located at Northern part of headquarter of Sindhuli district named Dudbhanjang, Bitijor, Bhuwaneshwari, Teenkanya, Ratanchura, Basheshwar & Bhimeshwar. The Rural municipality has total area of 184.13 Square Kilometer and is divided into seven wards. And the total population of the Rural Municipality is 19,329 (male 9,400 & female 9,929) as of Census of Nepal 2011.

The geography of this Rural Municipality includes steep hills as well as plain lands. The Golanjor Rural Municipality lies in the middle part of then 3 VDCs named Teenkanya, Ratanchura, Basheshwar. And those three then VDCs are seen from the top of the Golanjor hill hence name is based as Gokanjor Rural Municipality. The Golanjor Rural Municipality has high possibilities of tourists for Rafting & Cycling.

Chalachuli was a VDC which turned into rural municipality when fulfilling the requirement of the new constitution of 2015. To fulfil the requirements of a rural municipality 7 adjoining village development committee named Dudbhanjang, Bitijor, Bhuwaneshwari, Teenkanya, Ratanchura, Basheshwar & Bhimeshwar was added to it. There lived various castes of peoples like Chhetri, Brahaman, Magar, Newar, Kaami, Damai, Sarki, Bhujel, Majhi, Tamang, Sunuwar, Rai etc. and we found variety in cultural values also. They celebrate festivals like Vijayadashami, Dipawali, Ramnawami, Maghesankranti, Saunesankranti, Teej, Buddhapurnima, Janaipurnima etc. Considering the tribal ratio, the highest 50.71% is Janajati, 21.41% Dalit, 17.22% Chhetri, 9.82% Brahaman, 0.16% Muslim and others are 0.60%. This Rural municipality has 3,811 households.

Mr. Purna Bahadur Karki & Mrs. Ganga Devi Shrestha are the Chairman & Vice-Chairman of this rural municipality respectively. The Rural Municipality office lies in Ward No. 03, Gwalatar.
