Gaumukhi rural municipality is located in the northern part of the Pyuthan district. Existing VDCs such as Arkha, Rajwara, Puja, Khung, Liwang and Naarikot, were combined in Gaumukhi rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 139.03 square kilometers and is divided into 7 wards. Gulmi district lies in the east of Gaumukhi rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Naubahini rural municipality in the west, Baglung district in the north and Jhimruk rural municipality in the south. The geography of this rural municipality is steep slopes with high mountain.
