Ganyapadhura Rural Municipality is situated at mid-east part of Dadeldhura district, Sudur Paschim province. it was established in 2073 B.S. by combining then Ashigram, Ganespur, Mastamandou and Kailpalmandou Village Development Committees. It is divided into five wards. It is named after the local Hindu god Ganyap. It is surrounded by Doti district at east, Alital Rural Municipality and Amargadi Municipality at west, Navadurga Rural Municipality at north and Doti district at south. This is high altitude mountain area of west-Nepal. Upper parts are covered by snow during winter season.

According to the census 2011, total population of Ganyapdhura Rural Municipality is 15,093 with 3,070 households. Ward number three is most populated ward followed by ward number two and one. Most of the people have access to electricity. 96% people speak Doteli language. There are twenty ethnic communities residing in this Rural Municipality among them Chhetri have largest population with 42% occupancy followed by Brahmin and Kami. Literacy rate is 60.76%. Total area covered is 138.6 kilometer square. Most of the land is covered by forest, grass and mountain rocks. Agriculture is the major occupation followed by foreign employment.
