Gadhawa rural municipality is located in the eastern part of the Dang district. VDCs such as Gadhawa, Koilabash, Gangaparspur and Gobardiha, were combined in Gadhawa rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 358.56 square kilometers and is divided into 8 wards. Arghakhachi and Kapilbastu district lies in the east of Gadhawa rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Rajpur rural municipality in the west, Lamahi municipality and Rapti rural municipality in the north and India in the south. The geography of this rural municipality includes plan fertile land. Gadhawa rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 38592 consisting male population 18489 and female population of  20103 according to the National Population census of Nepal 2011. There are 7267 households in Gadhawa rural municipality.

This rural municipality lies at the height of 195 Metres to 885 Metres from sea level. Tharu, Madeshi, Muslim, Brahaman, Chhetri, Dalit etc are major groups who reside in this rural municipality. People celebrate Dashain, Tihar, Janaipurnima, Chandi Purnima, Buddhajayanti, Maghesarankti, Holi, Eid, Chhatha etc festivals in a friendly manner. Awadhi, Tharu, Nepali are the most spoken languages of this rural municipality. Paddy, Wheat, Corn, Mustard, Grain and various cash crops also harvest in this rural municipality. People of this rural municipality also engaged in livestock business also and some are in abroad for foreign employment also.

Mr. Sahajram Ahira and Mrs. Shanti Chaudhari are the chairman and vice chairman of the Gadhawa rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Gadhawa Deukhuri, Dang.
