Fakfokthum Rural Municipality sits towards the southern belt of Ilam district. It was formed following the Local Election by merging the then five VDCs including, Fakfok, Aamchowk, Fuyetapka, Lumde, Ektapka and ward number 9 of Chamauta. Mangsebung gaunpalika is situated in the south of this rural municipality and Deumai Municpality shares the eastern border. Towards the north and west lies Falgunanda Municipality and Milkajung Rural Municipality respectively of Panchthar district.With the total area of 109 square kilometers, the density of this gaunpalika is 200 per kilometer square. Having a total of 21,169 population, Limbu ethnic group has majority number. At the same time, the settlement of other ethnic groups is also dense here. A majority of the population is involved in agriculture for their livelihood while this gaunpalika is very famous for its herbal as well as agricultural harvest.
Raj Kumar Shrestha is the Chaiman and Saraswoti Rai is the Vice-Chairman of this gaunpalika.
