The geographical area of Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality is 167.67 sq km. It has a population of 13414 according to census 2011. This rural municipality has seven wards. It was formed by merging four former VDCs. The headquarter of this municipality is situated in Basa.
This rural municipality comes under the Everest region. So tourism is the main economic aspect of this region. The copper mines possibility of this area can be a game changer for national economy as well. But poor development infrastructure in the region is making it lagging behind despite being rich with resources.
The Chairperson and Vice chairperson this rural municipality are Buddhi Kiran Rai and Junita Maya Magar respectively.
