Darma rural municipality is located in the northern part of the Salyan district. In 2073 BS, adjoining areas of  Darmakot, Bhalchaur and Dhakadam, were combined in Darma rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 81.45 square Kilometers and is divided into 6 wards. Rukum (west) district and Baghchaur municipality lies in the east of Darma rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Kumakh rural municipality in the west, Rukum district (west) in the north and Baghchaur municipality in the south. The geography of this rural municipality is steep slopes with high mountain and cold weather. Darma rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 19966 consisting male population 9746 and female population of 10220 according to the national population census of Nepal 2011. There are 3460 households in Darma rural municipality.

This rural municipality is situated at the height of 1,017 Mtr. to 2,478 Mtr. from sea level. Considering the religion, in this rural municipality their mostly lives Hindus & Christian. Pun, Gharti, Magar, Bista, Bahun, Chhetri, Dalit, Janajatietc reside in this rural municipality and celebrates Dashain, Tihar, Magheshakranti, Ramnawami, Baishakepurnima, Janaipurnima, Teej, Holi, Loshar etc. festivals in a friendly manner.

Mr. Nim Bahadur KC and Mrs. Tika Sharma oli are the chairman and vice chairman of the Darma rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Pharulachaur, salyan.
