Chhatreshori rural municipality is located in the eastern part of the Salyan district. In 2073 BS, adjoining areas of  Damachaur, Korbangjhimpe, Lekhpokhari and Chhayachetra, were combined in Chhatreshori rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 150.69 square Kilometers and is divided into 7 wards. Rolpa district lies in the east of Chhatreshori rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Sarada municipality in the west, Baghchaur municipality in the north and Tribeni and Kapurkot rural municipality in the south. The geography of this rural municipality is steep slopes with high mountain and cold weather. Chhatreshori rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 21452 consisting male population 9762 and female population of 11690 according to the national population census of Nepal 2011. There are 4408 households in Chhatreshori rural municipality.

The name of this rural municipality is based on famous religious goddess Chhatreshawari Devi’s temple lies in then Chhayachhetrea VDC. Pun, Gharti, Magar, Bista, Bahun, Chhetri, Dalit, Janajatietc reside in this rural municipality and celebrates Dashain, Tihar, Magheshakranti, Ramnawami, Baishakepurnima, Janaipurnima, Teej, Holi, Loshar etc. festivals in a friendly manner. All the residential of this rural municipality are engaged in agriculture & livestock farming too.
