Chharka Tangsong rural municipality is located in the eastern part of the Dolpa district. Existing VDCs such as Chharka and Mukot, were combined in Chharka Tangsong rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 345.56 square kilo meter and is divided into 6 wards. Mustang district lies in the east of Chharka Tangsong rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Dolpa Buddha and Kaike rural municipality in the west, Nepal-China boarder in the north and Kaike rural municipality in the south. Chharka Tangsong rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 1451 consisting male population 684 and female population of 767 according to the population census of Nepal 2011. There are 282 households in Chharka Tangsong rural municipality.
Gurung, Thakuri, Magar, Lama, Tamang, Bharaman, Chhetri, Thakuri, Dalit, Giri, Ban, Khatri, Dholi, Oad, Batalu, Chadaraetc reside in this rural municipality and celebrates festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Magheshakranti, Ramnawami, Baishakepurnima, Janaipurnima, Teej, Holi, Loshar, Christmas day etc. festivals in a friendly manner. Most of the household individuals are engaged in agriculture as well as livestock & mushroom farming. The main crops are Paddy, Wheat, Corn, Mas, Rahar, Aalas, Mustard, and Potato etc.
Mr. Senang Gurung and Mrs. Chhiring Dihik Gurung are the chairman and vice chairman of the Chharka Tangsong rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Chharka Tangsong, Dolpa.
