Chaubise Rural Municipality is located towards the south-east part of Dhankuta district. Formed by combining the then seven VDCs (Budhabare, Mudhebas, KuruleTenupa, Bodhe, Rajarani, Mounabudhuk and Bashantatar), Rajarani bazar is the center of this gaunpalika. Divided into eight wards, this rural municipality is extended in the area of 147.6 square kilometer where a total of 19,283 residents live. Regarding the geographical diversity of this gaunpalika, it rises from 250 meters to 2,350 meters from the sea level.
This gaunpalika is situated in mid-hill region and the terrain is steep. Hence, the weather situation here is mixed, that is to say, cold towards the higher altitude and warm towards the lower altitude.
This rural municipality is a mixed settlement, therefore one can find diverse culture and tradition here. However, Limbu is the dominant ethnicity here, followed by others including, Magar, Rai, Newar, Brahmin, Chettri, Dalit, Majhi, Gurung, among others. Majority of people are involved in agriculture for their livelihood while some are also into government and non-government sector for jobs. As in other parts of the country, this gaunpalika has also seen the departure huge number of youths for foreign jobs. The diversity here is not only limited to ethnicity but also in terms of religiosity. Majority of people here follow Hinduism which is followed by Kiratis.
With a huge population into farming, maize, paddy, rice, millet and lentils among others are major production of this gaunpalika while farmers seem to be interested in commercial vegetable and fruits farming of late. It is the reason why the ward number 5 and 6 is considered to be the pocket area for orange production of this gaunpalika.
Khajindra Rai is the Chairman and YagyaKumariRuchal is the Vice-chairman of this gaunpalika.
