Buddhashanti Rural Municipality an area of 79.78 square kilometers. Having two former VDCs – Budhabare and Shantinagar under its current territory, the total population of this Gaunpalika is 41,615 as of 2011 Census.
The rural municipality is divided into total 7 wards and the headquarters is Budhabare. The border of this Gaunpalika is Mechinagar Municipality in the east and Arjundhara Municipality in the west. Similarly, this Gaunpalika shares its border with Ilam district and Mechinagar and Arjundhara Municipality in the north and south respectively.
This Gaunpalika is especially known for its huge amount of rice production while the farmers also produce betel nuts, coconut, tea and maize, among others in remarkable amount. Of late, the farmers seem to be attracted towards the commercial farming of cow, chicken and pig for better livelihood.
Regarding the climate, this Gaunpalika has the warmth of Terai and cold of Hills, making it a very suitable place for living. This Gaunpalika has also natural beauty and religious harmony.
The Office of this Gaunpalika has five departments namely, Administration and Planning department, Infrastructure Development Department, Women and Social Development Department, Education Department and Economic Development Department.
Ramesh Kumar Bhujel is the Chairman and Meera Bhurtel is the Vice-Chairperson of this Gaunpalika.
