Bishnu Rural Municipality is situated at mid-south part of Sarlahi district, Province number two. This Rural Municipality was established in 2074 B.S. by combining then Bara Udhyoran, Madhuban Goth, Batroul and Simara Village Development Committees. This local level unit is surrounded by Godaita Municipality from west, Kaudena Municipality from north and east and Indian border from east and south. This local unit is divided into eight wards. This Rural Municipality is named after Hindu god Bishnu as temple of god Bishnu is here. This is connected with postal highway of south Nepal.
As per the census 2011, total population of this Rural Municipality is 35,968. Population of male is 18,592 and female is 17,376. Ward number six is most populated ward. It covers total area of 28.09 kilometer square. Farming is major occupation. Madhesi community are huge major population here. Professional fishery, vegetable, fruits and other farming has been started. Home stay is also running here. Maithali is major language spoken and Hindu is major religion.
