Bijayanagar rural municipality is located in the western part of the kapilbastu district. VDCs such as Gugauli, Khurhuriya, Pathhardeiya and Ganeshpur, were combined in Bijayanagar rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 173.19 square kilometers and is divided into 7 wards. Shivaraj municipality lies in the east of Bijayanagar rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Nepal-India boarder in the west, Nepal-india boarder in the north and Krishnanagar municipality in the south. The geography of this rural municipality includes plan fertile land. Bijayanagar rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 36937 consisting male population 18831 and female population of 18106 as of Census of Nepal 2011. There are 5670 households in Bijayanagar rural municipality.
Brahaman, Muslim, Kurmi, Yadav, Pasi, Kalwar, Chamar, Mallaha, Dhobi, Chamar, etc resides in this rural municipality. Here, in this rural municipality all the seasonal corps can harvest & grow well. The major corps grows are Paddy, Wheat, Corn, Mustard, Sunflower, Peanuts, Potato etc. In these days people also engaged in harvesting many cash crops like vegetables, mushroom, livestock, etc.
Mr. Gopal Bahadur Thapa Magar and Mrs. Laxmi Kumari Chaudhari are the chairman and vice chairman of the Bijayanagar rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Khuruhuriya, Kapilbastu.
