The geographical area of Bhotkhola Rural Municipality is 639.01 sq km. It has a population of 6576 according to census 2011. This rural municipality has five wards. It was formed by merging four former VDCs. It has China in the north border. The headquarter of this municipality is situated in Hatiya.
Majority of the population here are Bhite, Sherpa, Tamang and Rai. Yak and Chauri farming is the main profession of people living in highland area. To utilize the resource it has, infrastructural development is the first step to accomplish. Like other remote areas of Nepal this part of the country is waiting for this.
The Chairperson and Vice chairperson this rural municipality are Temba Bhote and Panjam Bhechyawa Bhote respectively.
