The geographical area of Bhokraha Rural Municipality is 63.37 sq km. It has a population of 40509 according to census 2011. This rural municipality has eight wards. It was formed by merging two former VDCs. It is surrounded by Inaruwa municipality in the east and Koshi gaunpalika and India in the west and Barahachhetra municipality in the north and Harinagar gaunpalika in the south. The headquarter of this municipality is situated in Bhokraha.
Literacy rate of this region 47.4 percent, which is very low. Here 90 percent of the land is covered by forest. Utilization of local resource for public good is what needed for sustainable development in this region. Muslim population are high in this area. So, Eid celebration is one major event here. Among the agricultural land 60 percent are use to grow paddy only. Different types of grams (beans, Black gram, Chana, musuro) and mustard and sunflower are other major cash crops in this area.
The Chairperson and Vice chairperson this rural municipality are Mahendra Prasad Yadav and Punam Kumari Mehata respectively.
