Badikedar Rural Municipality was formed on Chaitra 2, 2073 B.S. It was formed by merging 4 than VDCs named, ‘Ghangal’, ‘Barchhern’, ‘Mannakapadi’, ‘Laanakedareshowr’. The rural municipality is situated at 150 KM southern part from its district headquarter. ‘Badikedar’ is named of reputed religious place ‘Badikedar’. This rural municipality is divided into 5 wards.

Bokatan Rural municipality lies in the east of Badikedar Rural Municipality, Jorayal Municipality and Kailali district are situated in western part, Shikhar municipality, Bokatan, Jorayal and K. I Singh Rural Municipality are lie in northern part of the Badikedar Rural Municipality. The remaining southern part is surrounded by Kailali district.

The Badikedar Rural Municipality is located in 1800-meter height from the sea level. ‘Badikedar Dham’ is the reputed religious place of this rural municipality. ‘Kalaruwa Lake’ located in 4 number ward ‘Mannapakadi’ of the rural municipality is the major tourist destination. Total area of Badikedar Rural Municipality is 332.55 Sq. KM. There are 2719 households with total population of the municipality is 16,503 consisting of male 8,196 and female 8,307. The population density of the rural municipality is 49.62 per square km.  Major ethnic group of this Rural Municipality are Chhetri, Kami, Brahamin-Hill, Damai (Dholi). Major economic activity in this Rural Municipality is Agriculture and Livestock.  62.8% people are literate.

Mr. Krishna Bahadur Chand is the Chairman and Ms. Indra Bohora Bhat is the vice-chairman of this Badikedar Rural Municipality. Barchhain village is center of this Rural Municipality.
