Badhaiyatal rural municipality is located in the eastern part of the Bardiya district. Existing VDCs such as Jamuni, Sorahawa, Mainapokhar and Kalika, were combined in Badhaiyatal rural municipality. The Rural municipality has total area of 115.19 square kilometers and is divided into 9 wards. Banke district lies in the east of Badhaiyatal rural municipality. Similarly, this rural municipality is surrounded by Gulariya municipality in the west, Bashgadhi municipality in the north and Nepal-India boarder in the south. The geography of this rural municipality includes plan fertile land. Badhaiyatal rural municipality has the total population of the municipality is 47868 consisting male population 22296 and female population of 25572 as of Census of Nepal 2011. There are 10333 households in Badhaiyatal rural municipality.

Chhetri, Brahaman, Thakuri, Dalit, Madheshi, Muslim etc reside in this rural municipality. Dashain, Tihar, Janaipurnima, Chandi Purnima, Buddhajayanti, Maghesarankti, Holi, Chhatha, Eid, Ramjan, Christmas etc festivals in a friendly manner. Awadhi, Tharu, Nepali are the most spoken languages of this rural municipality. Paddy, Wheat, Corn, Mustard, Grain and various cash crops also harvest in this rural municipality. And people of this rural municipality also engaged in livestock business also and some are in abroad for foreign employment also.

Mr. Lal Bahadur Shrestha and Mrs. Dipa Kumari Gautam are the chairman and vice chairman of the Badhaiyatal rural municipality. The rural municipality office is situated in Badhaiyatal, Bardiya.
