Aurahi Rural Municipality is situated at mid-south part of Siraha district, Province two. This Rural Municipality was established in 2073 B.S. by combining then Harkatti, Tulasipur, Pipara Pra. Pi., Itatar and Aurahi Village Development Committees. This local unit is covered by Arnama Rural Municipality and Siraha Municipality from west, Sukhipur Municipality from north, Bariyarpatti Rural Municipality from east and Indian border from south. This local unit has been divided into five wards.

Total population of Aurahi Rural Municipality is 23,046 as per the census 2011. Total area covered is 35.87 kilometer square. Most of the land is covered by farming area and forest. Hindu, Muslim and Christian are major religions. Agriculture is major occupation. Paddy, wheat, maize and sugarcane are major crops along with different vegetables and fruits. Animal husbandry is substituting occupation with agriculture. Buffalo, cow, goat and poultry farming are being popular. Service and foreign employment are other occupations.

Mr. Siddhartha Yadav is Chairperson and Ms. Sita Kumari is Vice-chairperson of Aurahi Rural Municipality. Number of local representatives is 27 and number of employees working is 24.
