Ajayameru Rural Municipality is situated at north-west area of Dadeldhura district, Sudur Paschim province. it was established in 2073 B.S. by combining then Samaiji, Ajayemeru, Bhadrapur, Chipur and Deval Dibyapur Village Development Committees. It is named after the Ajayameru Port where King Naagi Malla ruled during ancient period. It has been categorized into six wards. It is surrounded by Amargadhi Municipality at east, Baitadi district at west and north and Bhageswor Municipality at south. it is five kilometer far from district headquarter

According to the census 2011, total population of Ajayameru Rural Municipality is 7,066. Chhetri are the dominating population followed by Brahmin and Dalit. Doteli is the major language spoken. It covers total area of 152.27 kilometer square area. Most of the area is covered by mountains, forest, grass and rocks. Most populated ward is ward number two followed by ward number five and six. Number of schools is 22. Survival agriculture and animal husbandry is major occupation. Paddy, wheat, maize, potato, barley and millet are the major crops that could be cultivated. Fruits and vegetables farming is also being source of income. Foreign employment is another source of income. Literacy rate is 64.1%

Mr. Umesh Prasad Bhatta is Chairperson and Ms. Kalawati Bhan is Vice-chairperson of Ajayameru Rural Municipality. Total number of elected representatives from local level election is 32. Centre of this Rural Municipality is Bhadrapur village ward number 3. Total number of employees working is 34.
