Adarsha Rural Municipality is situated at north-west part of Doti district, Sudur Paschim province. it was established in 2073 B.S. by combining then Bajhkakani, Kalikasthan, Mahadevsthan, Lamikhal, Girouchika and Dahakalikasthan Village Development Committees. This Rural Municipality is divided into seven wards. This is surrounded by Sayal Rural Municipality at east, Shikhar Municipality and Baitadi district at west, Baitadi distrit at north ant Shikhar and Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality at south.
As per the census 2011, total population of Adarsha Rural Municipality is 24,482 with 4,757 households. Population of male is 10,603 and female is 13,879. Average size of family is 5.14. Ward number two is most populated ward. There are about ten ethnic groups residing under this Rural Municipality, among them Chhetri are dominating population with 58.63% occupancy followed by Brahmin and Kami. Almost all people speak Doteli language. It covers total area of 128.47 kilometer square. Much of the land is occupied by mountains, forest and rocks. About quarter part land is appropriate for agriculture. Major occupation of people are agriculture, animal farming and foreign employment. Paddy, wheat, maize and millet are major crops that could be cultivated here. Literacy rate is of this local unit is 46.8%
